Aaron Rodgers inches closer to 70,000-yard milestone in NFL career

2026-07-13 · Aaron Rodgers · Player Focus

Aaron Rodgers is on the brink of joining an exclusive NFL passing club.

Aaron Rodgers enters the 2025 season 3,726 yards shy of becoming the fifth quarterback in NFL history to eclipse 70,000 career passing yards. Only Tom Brady (89,214), Drew Brees (80,358), Peyton Manning (71,940) and Brett Favre (71,838) have cleared that mark. Rodgers finished 15th in the NFL last season with 3,322 passing yards and a 24-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio, playing 16 of 17 games after missing Week 12 with multiple fractures in his non-throwing wrist.

The odds at DraftKings list Rodgers at +200 to throw for at least 3,726 yards and finish with at least 70,000 career passing yards. The feat would cap a remarkable late-career surge for the 41-year-old signal-caller. Rodgers also sits 13 touchdown passes behind Manning for third place on the all-time scoring list. A typical season should get him there, while two more campaigns would likely push him past Brees into second place. Brady’s record 649 career touchdown passes remains out of reach.

Rodgers passed Favre for fourth on the all-time touchdown list in Week 3 of 2024 against the New England Patriots. “It’s just a longevity achievement,” Rodgers said afterward. “Some touchdowns, you make exceptional plays. Some, the scheme is so good, like the one to Jaylen Warren in the game. All I’ve got to do is not screw it up. And then sometimes you throw a short one to a guy and he goes 60 and it goes in the column all the same. So there’ve been a lot of guys involved in that, including the guys blocking, the guys calling the plays.” He played through pain last year, suiting up after the wrist injury and finishing with 3,322 yards and a 24-to-7 TD-to-INT mark.

The Steelers’ offense now runs through Rodgers, who signed in March after 18 seasons in Green Bay. Pittsburgh’s passing attack should benefit from his veteran pocket presence and decision-making. The 41-year-old still throws with precision, ranking 15th in the league last season despite missing one game. If he stays healthy, the 70,000-yard mark and third place on the all-time TD list are within reach in 2025. Two more seasons would likely vault him past Brees into second place. The chase adds another layer to Rodgers’ late-career renaissance in Pittsburgh.
