AJ Styles explains why he wants Sami Zayn to keep WWE title

AJ Styles recently shared his thoughts on the current WWE title situation, hoping Sami Zayn won't lose the title to Cody Rhodes on RAW.

Sami Zayn captured the Undisputed WWE Championship by defeating Gunther and Cody Rhodes in a Triple Threat match at Night of Champions 2026.

AJ Styles noted that he did not want to see Zayn lose the title and become a transitional champion.

The veteran suggested that Zayn was capable of more and that it would be a disappointing storyline if he lost the title.

"I don’t want to see a transitional champion. I think that Sami’s more than capable of pulling off being a world champion and totally being the underdog here," AJ Styles said.

AJ Styles also suggested that LA Knight was ready to become a major champion in WWE, praising his mic work and ability to hold a heavyweight championship.

"I do hope he gets to be a world champion. I really think he has earned it," AJ Styles said.

AJ Styles retired from in-ring competition following his loss to Gunther at WWE Royal Rumble 2026.

The outcome of the title match between Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes on RAW will be interesting to see, given AJ Styles' thoughts on the matter.
