Alex Márquez Rides Solo for Gresini at German Grand Prix
Alex Márquez will ride alone for Gresini Racing at the German Grand Prix. His teammate Fermin Aldeguer fractured a vertebra in his back during the Dutch event and hasn't recovered.
Aldeguer suffered a heavy crash at turn 11 during Friday practice in Assen. He required medical assistance trackside and was later diagnosed with a fracture to the T7 vertebra.
Gresini will field only one bike at the German Grand Prix due to Aldeguer's injury. The team is desperate for a return to their 2025 form with their new pairing.
Alex Márquez also had a bloody tumble in Assen. He explained the incident to GPBlog, saying it was his fault and he wants to apologize to Alpinestars, the glove manufacturer.
Marquez will leave Gresini Racing at the end of the season to join factory squad KTM on a multi-year deal. He has won four Grands Prix in Gresini colors, including the Spanish event in Jerez in April this year.
Gresini unveiled their 2027 line-up, which includes 2020 champion Joan Mir and Moto2 talent Dani Holgado. Aldeguer is heavily rumored to be heading to VR46 Racing next year.
The German Grand Prix will take place at the Sachsenring, a fan-favorite track. Alex Márquez will be the sole challenger for Gresini Racing, looking to make the most of the opportunity.
Aldeguer has been in pain all of 2026 with a rod inserted into his leg after a January training crash. He spoke to DAZN after his Assen tumble, saying he's doing well in terms of pain, but has bruising in all his muscles and limited movement due to the vertebra injury.
The injury crisis has taken a heavy toll on Gresini's 2026 MotoGP season. The team will be looking to bounce back with their new pairing in 2027.
