Alexander Isak to Explode into Life Under Andoni Iraola's Liverpool Regime

Alexander Isak to Finally Prove His Worth at Liverpool in Second Season

Alexander Isak, Liverpool's £125m record signing, is expected to explode into life during his second season at Anfield, according to former England star Danny Mills.

Isak's first season at Liverpool was nothing short of disastrous, with the Sweden striker managing only four goals across 22 games. This was comfortably his worst in English football, with his three seasons at Newcastle yielding 10, 25, and 27 goals respectively. Isak also suffered a broken fibula in December, ruling him out of action for 106 days and missing a total of 28 matches across his debut campaign at Anfield.

Mills believes that Isak's poor start was largely due to the transfer saga that dragged on for so long, denying him any sort of form and fitness over pre-season. However, with a new start and a new manager, Andoni Iraola, Mills thinks that Isak will finally get the chance to prove his worth.

Iraola's style is expected to be a major factor in Isak's improvement, with the former Bournemouth manager looking to play with fast attacking pace in wide areas and down the middle. This suits Isak's game perfectly, and Mills predicts that the Sweden striker will be a different player this year.

"It's a fresh start for Alexander Isak and an opportunity to kick on," Mills said. "He didn't have a proper pre-season last year, and that's a significant reason why he struggled. But with a new start and a new manager, I think he'll be a different player this year."

Mills also believes that Isak's injury record will improve with a more focused pre-season, and that the Sweden striker will be a major threat to opposing teams.

"We have to look at the first few games of pre-season to see the style at Liverpool, but it may well suit Isak," Mills said. "If he has a proper pre-season, he might be a different player this year. I wouldn't judge him overly harshly."

Isak's future at Liverpool is still uncertain, with speculative reports in Spain linking the Swede with a return to LaLiga with Barcelona. However, with a new start and a new manager, Mills thinks that Isak will finally get the chance to prove his worth and become the player that Liverpool fans were expecting when they signed him for £125m.
