Aly Raisman Slams Olympic Scoring Scandal

2026-06-23 · Aly Raisman · Player Focus

Aly Raisman is speaking out against the Olympic gymnastics scoring scandal, advocating for her friend Jordan Chiles, who was stripped of her bronze medal.

The controversy began when Chiles' coach filed an inquiry over her difficulty score, which was initially denied due to a timing issue.

Chiles had originally placed fifth in the individual artistic floor exercise but was awarded the bronze medal after the inquiry.

Raisman, a six-time Olympic medalist, is determined to help Chiles, stating that the situation is "so unfair" and that Chiles "deserves to have the medal".

Raisman expressed confusion over the timekeeping issue, citing that according to the rules, it's someone's job to keep the time, and the inquiry was accepted within the minute time frame.

The judges admitted to making a mistake with the scoring, which Raisman believes warrants more transparency and accountability.

USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee are filing an appeal with the Swiss Federal Tribunal, the highest court in Switzerland.

Raisman remains hopeful that Chiles will be awarded the medal, stating that she is "so proud of her" and that the IOC has given more than one medal before.

And Raisman is not just fighting for Chiles, but also for body positivity, having recently started wearing sleeveless clothing after years of being self-conscious about her muscular arms.

But Raisman's newfound confidence is not just about her appearance, it's also about her passion for the sport and her desire to see justice served.

So Raisman will continue to advocate for Chiles and for the sport she loves, using her platform to bring attention to the issues that matter most.

Raisman's comments came at the Prabal Gurung spring 2025 runway show, where she rocked a crystal-studded black minidress with strappy sandals.

The show featured plenty of sleeveless day and evening looks, which Raisman admired, having recently overcome her own body shaming issues.

As Raisman stated, "I'm letting go of all that stuff, so it's been great" - a sentiment that echoes her determination to fight for what's right in the sport.
