Amanda Anisimova cheers Karolína Muchová after Wimbledon heartbreak

2026-07-14 · Amanda Anisimova · Player Focus

Amanda Anisimova has stepped up with empathy for a fellow player’s Grand Slam pain, offering public encouragement to Karolína Muchová after the Czech star’s agonizing Wimbledon loss on 12 July 2026.

Muchová stormed through SW19 with a fourth-round bye, then edged past Barbora Krejčíková 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 in a Czech quarterfinal showdown. She followed that with a 7-6(4), 6-4 upset of Naomi Osaka before outlasting Coco Gauff 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(10) in a three-set semifinal thriller. In the final Muchová saved five championship points in the second set, but Linda Nosková sealed a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 comeback to lift her first Grand Slam trophy.

Anisimova knows the sting of a Wimbledon final defeat all too well. She was routed 6-0, 6-0 by Iga Świątek in the 2025 final, a result that left her visibly shaken in her post-match press conference. “I was excited to go back out on Centre Court,” she told reporters on 11 July 2026, “but obviously nervous because I know my level hasn’t been great lately.”

After Muchová’s tears on Centre Court, Anisimova posted a simple yet powerful message on Instagram: “Be so proud of yourself 🤍😍.” She added, “The pic with the bottle is vibes,” striking a sympathetic tone that resonated with fans.

Anisimova’s 2026 Wimbledon ended early. Madison Keys ended her campaign 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the third round on 8 July 2026. Now she turns her focus to the North American hardcourt swing, starting with the Canadian Open in Toronto on 2 August 2026. She’ll line up alongside Muchová, Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula in a stacked WTA 1000 draw.

Muchová, meanwhile, will chase redemption in Toronto after her heartbreak at SW19. Anisimova’s own comeback begins with the Rogers Cup, where she’ll look to rediscover the form that once carried her deep into majors.
