Andre Agassi Snaps at Commentator Over Celebrity Questions
Andre Agassi snapped at commentator Andrew Castle over celebrity questions during Friday's men's semifinal matches at Wimbledon.
Agassi grew frustrated as Castle kept bringing up VIPs in attendance, including actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The celebrities on hand also included Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and musical theatre star Elaine Paige.
Agassi is known for his insightful tennis analysis, but Castle's questions threw him off.
Agassi tried to make a point about Taylor Fritz's serve, but Castle interrupted to talk about the Royal Box attendees.
Andre Agassi's outburst came during the thrilling semifinal between Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz, which Alcaraz will follow up with a final against Jannik Sinner on Sunday.
Alcaraz had previously beaten Novak Djokovic in the French Open final on June 9, 2024, coming back from two sets down.
Agassi's frustration was palpable as he told Castle, "People watching are watching for tennis, not for this."
Castle didn't seem to take the hint, joking about a "Guess the royal box member" game.
An exasperated Agassi responded, "Don't torture me, let me finish my point."
Agassi continued to analyze Fritz's serve, but Castle cut in again to mention former deputy prime minister Nick Clegg.
That comment was enough to get Agassi to truly snap, reiterating his focus on tennis.
Similar moments between the two commentators took place throughout the broadcast.
Agassi told Castle, "Do not ask me about people that you show on television because this is my weakness."
The highly anticipated final between Alcaraz and Sinner is set for Sunday, July 14, 2025.
Alcaraz and Sinner had an epic French Open final, with Alcaraz fending off multiple match points to rally down two sets and claim the title at Roland Garros on June 9, 2024.
