Anthony Davis mocked for injury history after Twitch Call of Duty stream

2026-07-20 · Anthony Davis · Player Focus

Anthony Davis was ridiculed on Twitch for his injury history after a streamer mocked his durability during a Call of Duty session on **15 July 2026**.

What happened on the stream?

A Twitch streamer playing *Call of Duty* with Davis and others suddenly turned to him and joked that the big man was only playing well because of the team’s support. The streamer then mocked Davis for being “made of tissues,” drawing laughs from the chat. Davis didn’t escalate the moment and took the ribbing in stride, but the exchange underscored a long-running narrative about his health.

Why the jokes keep coming

Charles Barkley once dubbed Davis “Street Clothes” for his frequent absences from the court in Lakers colors. The nickname stuck after Davis missed huge chunks of seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks. Over seven Pelicans seasons, he topped 70 games just twice. With the Lakers, he played over 70 games only once in six seasons and failed to reach 60 games four times. In Dallas, two half-seasons yielded just 29 appearances before the Mavericks traded him to the Washington Wizards at the 2026 deadline.

What’s at stake for Davis this season

This is Anthony Davis’ most important season since 2020, when he forced a trade to the Lakers and delivered dominant playoff runs against the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets. That title run proved he could deliver when healthy, but injuries have since eroded his standing. Now 33, Davis faces a pivotal free-agency year and must prove he can stay on the floor for Washington’s new big three of Trae Young and rookie AJ Dybantsa.

Where the Wizards stand

Washington took a chance on Davis last season, hoping fresh surroundings would improve his health. So far, the early returns are mixed. With Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg, Davis logged limited minutes and little continuity. A strong 2026-27 campaign could secure him a long-term deal in D.C., but another injury-marred year risks pushing him toward the open market-or out of town entirely.
