Anthony Davis Staying With Wizards, Agent Rich Paul Confirms

Anthony Davis will stay with the Washington Wizards for the 2026-27 season, his agent Rich Paul confirmed on a podcast this week. The blunt declaration ends weeks of trade speculation that linked the 10-time All-Star to the Golden State Warriors.

Paul appeared on Max Kellerman's podcast and was asked directly if Davis would play for Washington next season. His answer was immediate. "Yes."

When Kellerman pressed further, Paul fired back: "Yeah, why wouldn't he?" The agent then dismissed the Warriors rumors entirely. "Oh, I don't know anything about that," he said with a smirk.

Davis arrived in Washington as part of the massive Luka Dončić trade from Dallas. The Mavericks had acquired him from the Lakers in a blockbuster deal, but the experiment failed.

Injuries limited Davis to just 29 games with Dallas. After the Mavericks fired general manager Nico Harrison, they also moved on from the 32-year-old big man.

Davis never played a single minute for the Wizards last season. His injury history has become a defining issue for his career.

Washington now has a crowded roster. They added Trae Young in a separate deal and also hold the first overall pick in the draft. Davis joins a young core that could offer real intrigue.

But at 32 with a long list of injury concerns, Davis may not be around to see the rebuild through. The Wizards are clearly building for the future, not the present.

For now, Davis will suit up for Washington when the 2026-27 season tips off. The Warriors rumors have quieted, and no trade appears imminent.

His health remains the biggest question. If Davis can stay on the court, he gives the Wizards a proven two-way force. If not, his time in D.C. could be short.

Either way, Rich Paul made one thing clear: Anthony Davis is a Wizard, at least for now.
