Anthony Joshua Eyes Title Shot

2026-06-30 · Anthony Joshua · Player Focus

Anthony Joshua will target the biggest available challenge if he gets past Tyson Fury later this year.

He faces Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 25.

Fury is expected to enter a warm-up fight, possibly in August, after beating Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

For Joshua, the ultimate goal is to become a three-time world champion, with a win over Fury taking him one step closer.

Eddie Hearn believes Joshua would be eager to exact his revenge over Daniel Dubois, who stopped him in round five of their shootout in September 2024.

Hearn admitted that, as his promoter, he would rather navigate Joshua towards an “easier” title shot.

Dubois must first defend his WBO title in a rematch with Fabio Wardley later this year.

“[Dubois] would probably be his choice. There will be easier chances, maybe, to win a world title,” Hearn said.

But Hearn acknowledged that Joshua is the boss and will do what he wants to do.

A Joshua rematch could materialise in 2027, but for now, he must focus on getting past Fury.

The two Brits are set to square off in November, if Joshua takes care of Prenga.

Joshua is ranked in the top 10 by each sanctioning body, with Oleksandr Usyk having vacated his WBC, IBF and WBA belts.

There could be an opportunity for Joshua to claim one of those prizes, with Hearn looking to secure the easiest fight.
