Anthony Joshua’s rival Otto Wallin picks Fury in heavyweight showdown

2026-07-18 · Anthony Joshua · Player Focus

Anthony Joshua’s former opponent Otto Wallin has shared his prediction for the highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Joshua and Tyson Fury. Wallin, who lost to both fighters in past bouts, believes Fury will emerge victorious but acknowledges Joshua’s dangerous speed and power.

What did Wallin say about Anthony Joshua?

Wallin, who suffered a fifth-round stoppage against Joshua in 2023, described the Brit as a sharp and powerful fighter. 'He’s very sharp. He has pretty fast feet and fast hands, and he’s very powerful,' Wallin told Hajper. Despite Joshua’s recent loss to Daniel Dubois, Wallin sees potential for an upset if Joshua lands clean shots.

Why does Wallin favor Fury?

Wallin, who pushed Fury to a unanimous decision in 2019, praised the Gypsy King’s boxing IQ and movement. 'Tyson is a better boxer. He moves well, and he’s smart,' Wallin said. Fury’s ability to adapt in big fights gives him the edge, though Wallin admits Joshua’s explosiveness makes the bout unpredictable.

When will the fight happen?

Fury and Joshua are expected to face off later this year, following their respective warm-up fights against Mariusz Wach and Kristian Prenga at the end of July. The heavyweight showdown has been years in the making, with fans eager to see if Joshua can reclaim his status as a top contender.
