Ariarne Titmus Reveals Disgusting Olympic Village Conditions

2026-06-29 · Ariarne Titmus · Player Focus

Ariarne Titmus, the 23-year-old Australian gold medal-winning swimmer, has spoken out about the disgusting conditions she faced at the Olympic Village in Paris.

Ariarne Titmus won gold in the 400m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay, but her experience was marred by poor living conditions.

She described the bed sheets not being changed for the rest of her stay after the first night, leaving her and her teammates living in filth.

The lack of basic supplies, including toilet paper, forced athletes to lie about the number of roommates they had to get more.

Ariarne Titmus also mentioned that the coffee she had on the plane home was better than any she had in Europe during her stay.

Ariarne Titmus was lucky to have a Tempur mattress, avoiding the uncomfortable cardboard beds provided to some athletes.

She beat American rival Katie Ledecky in the 400m freestyle, a major highlight of her time in Paris.

Ariarne Titmus has also received strange and inappropriate messages on social media since her return home.

She spoke about these messages on Nova 96.9's 'Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie', saying some made her laugh but others were odd.
