Bode Miller's drug case dismissed by Idaho prosecutor

Idaho prosecutors have dismissed misdemeanor drug charges against Olympic gold medalist Bode Miller after new evidence emerged. The 48-year-old skier was arrested June 6 in Fremont County for possessing psilocybin mushrooms.

What happened?

Miller pleaded not guilty last week, claiming he was unaware his friend had a small amount of drugs. Fremont County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob Hurt initially found 4.1 grams of psychedelic mushrooms in Miller's possession. The skier said he was pulled over for accelerating to pass a vehicle on a highway.

Why the charges were dropped

Prosecutor Lindsey Blake stated that while there was probable cause for the arrest, new information led to the dismissal. She declined to specify details, citing an active case involving another man charged with the same crimes. Miller's lawyer, Jeromy Stafford, maintained his client had no drugs on him during the arrest.

Miller's career and legacy

Miller, known for his aggressive skiing style, won six Olympic medals, including gold in the 2010 Vancouver Games. He retired in 2017 after a career spanning 33 World Cup victories and four world championship golds. His last major race was the 2015 world championships in Beaver Creek, Colorado, where a crash resulted in a torn hamstring tendon.
