Charlie Curnow Opens Torquay Taco Bar

2026-07-07 · Charlie Curnow · Player Focus

Charlie Curnow, the Carlton-turned-Sydney Swans forward, has opened a new taco bar in Torquay, called Mule, with two chefs, William Wade and Rory Benzie.

The trio traveled to LA and Mexico to explore taco shops, food trucks, and bars, and brought back their favorite flavors to create a unique menu.

Mule's menu features tortillas, seafood, and snacks, all cooked over a roaring central wood fire, with dishes like Otway pork marinated in adobo and Queensland wagyu smoked over red gum.

Curnow's new venture showcases his passion for food and hospitality, and his commitment to using local produce and creating a warm atmosphere for customers.

The restaurant's design features exposed brick, veneer walnut cabinetry, and deep red tones, with a moody indoor bar and outdoor weatherproof seating, offering a cozy and intimate dining experience.

The team plans to make their own tortillas in-house and expand their menu, with a focus on using local and seasonal ingredients, and creating a unique and exciting dining experience for customers.

Mule is open for dinner from Thursday to Sunday, and offers a range of tequila-based cocktails, including five styles of margarita, making it a must-visit destination for foodies and cocktail lovers.

The restaurant's opening is a significant event for the local community, and Curnow's involvement is a testament to his dedication to the region and its people, as he continues to make a name for himself in the culinary world
