Charlie Curnow Thrives in New Life as a Swan

2026-06-24 · Charlie Curnow · Player Focus

Charlie Curnow has started his new life as a Swan with a bang, scoring 3 goals in the season-opening win over his former side Carlton.

The 29-year-old joined the Swans in the final hour of the trade period last year, completing a blockbuster switch despite still being contracted at Carlton.

He has settled into life at his new beachside house in Tamarama, painting the walls in a familiar colour.

Curnow's move to Sydney was the fresh start he needed, and he has already made a positive impact on the team, with coach Dean Cox praising his club debut.

The former Blue invited 7NEWS into his new life, living just a drop punt from the surf coast.

Curnow will be back in action on Saturday night in another blockbuster as the Swans host two-time reigning premiers Brisbane.

He follows in the footsteps of Lance Franklin, Barry Hall and Tony Lockett as superstar key forwards moving to the harbour city.

And he's ready to attack the rest of the season, after a tough match against his old side.

But he didn't notice that it's a different atmosphere at the SCG, with a different passion for the game.

So he's looking forward to the challenge ahead, with the Swans aiming to make a strong start to the season.

Curnow's teammates, including Sammy Walsh, have made him feel welcome, and he's enjoying the new experience.

The Swans were able to strike a deal with Curnow despite interest from Geelong, and it's already paying off.

Cox said he was pleased with Curnow's debut, and he's expecting big things from the star forward.

As Curnow prepares for his next game, he's feeling refreshed and ready to go, after a strong start to his new life as a Swan.
