Chris Dobey Opens New Darts Venue in Ashington

Chris Dobey, the 2023 Masters champion, attended the grand opening of the 'Darts on Your Doorstep' venue at the Northern Social Club in Ashington on Wednesday.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and Smart Energy GB, an independent nonprofit.

The program aims to improve darts venues in the United Kingdom by providing specially designed darts rooms.

Clubs participating in the project will receive optimal training and playing conditions.

As a Premier League Darts competitor, Dobey is enthusiastic about the project, stating it will be a big benefit to darts players at the Northern Social Club.

The project will also educate members on how smart meters can help manage energy consumption and reduce energy costs.

Dobey unveiled the revamped darts section of the Northern Social Club, located just a few miles from his hometown of Bedlington.

He took time to speak with club members and throw a dart with them.

The initiative will eventually reach more than 250 darts clubs throughout the United Kingdom.

Clubs will have the opportunity to participate in the Smart Energy GB Darts Challenge, with the best performing clubs winning an exclusive darts experience.

Philippa Brown, Deputy Director of Specialist Audiences at Smart Energy GB, emphasized the importance of the partnership.

The project will give darts a big boost at the local level while sending an important social message.

Dobey was in action on Thursday night in Premier League Darts at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle.

The 'Darts on Your Doorstep' initiative is made possible in part by official sponsor Winmau.
