Coco Gauff Wins Wimbledon Match at Buzzer

Coco Gauff won her Wimbledon match on Sunday, hitting a service winner at 10:58pm to beat Belinda Bencic.

Gauff converted her first match point two minutes before the 11pm curfew, reaching the quarterfinals for the first time.

She tapped her left wrist with her right hand to acknowledge the timely ending.

Gauff's win reminded her of Kawhi Leonard's shot for the Toronto Raptors in 2019, which bounced off the rim four times before becoming the first Game 7 buzzer-beater in NBA history.

The pressure of the curfew made Gauff feel like she was racing against time.

Gauff will face fellow American Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals, who beat Iva Jovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Gauff said she's hungry for more, but it's a great accomplishment to reach the quarterfinals.

She played basketball as a kid, but didn't hit any buzzer-beaters.

Gauff had reached the fourth round four times in her Wimbledon career, including her breakthrough run as a 15-year-old in 2019.

Now, she's gone one step further, and will look to continue her winning streak.
