Cody Rhodes Heel Turn Could Be Bigger Than John Cena's, Says Bully Ray

Bully Ray, the WWE Hall of Famer, believes Cody Rhodes' eventual heel turn will be more significant than John Cena's. He made the case on "Busted Open," doubling down on years of predictions.

Ray insists Rhodes is a natural bad guy. He says the turn just needs the right moment and the right opponent.

Ray has been pushing for a Rhodes heel turn for years. On the July 2026 episode of "Busted Open," he laid out his reasoning.

"Cody's a heel," Ray said. "Cody's eventual heel turn ... will be more significant than John Cena's and it will work a hell of a lot better."

He argued Rhodes is in the prime of his career. That makes the timing perfect for a character shift.

Ray stressed the turn can't happen cold. He wants a slow build, especially if CM Punk is the babyface opponent.

"You can't just turn Cody cold," Ray said. He wants to see real camaraderie between Rhodes and Punk first. Then the betrayal would hit harder.

Ray also talked about the importance of the right city and day. Everything has to align for the turn to succeed.

Rhodes is reportedly set to feud with CM Punk at SummerSlam. That could be the stage for a major character change.

But Ray says it needs time. He wants a friendship built on TV before the turn happens.

For now, Rhodes remains a top babyface. But Bully Ray is betting the switch will come: and it will be huge.
