Connor Bedard pushes hard for Patrick Kane reunion in Chicago Blackhawks rebuild

Connor Bedard is making his pitch for Patrick Kane to return to Chicago.

The 21-year-old Chicago Blackhawks center admitted he wants the future Hall of Famer back in the Windy City. Speaking after signing his own five-year, $75 million contract extension on 18 June, Bedard said he hopes Kane chooses the Blackhawks over his hometown Buffalo Sabres. “I hope so,” Bedard said. “I don’t know what I can say to persuade his decision, but we’d all obviously be so excited to have a player like that.”

Bedard framed the move as more than nostalgia. He pointed to the energy Kane would bring to the United Center and the locker room. “I can’t imagine his first game back at the UC, the reaction he’d get and how much juice that would bring not only to our team but our fans as well,” Bedard said. He also stressed that adding Kane would make the Blackhawks a better team right now, not just a sentimental one. “That would be incredible to get to play with him and learn from him,” Bedard said. “Hopefully he decides to come back. You talk about the legacy aspect of it, but as a team, it would make us a way better team. He’s still an amazing player.”
