Dale Earnhardt Jr. unveils his 300-acre ranch with its own western town

2026-07-21 · Dale Earnhardt Jr · Player Focus

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has opened the doors on his sprawling 300-acre ranch in North Carolina, a property so vast it includes its own western town. The two-time Daytona 500 winner shared the first look at the land on 20 July 2026, revealing a private retreat packed with custom-built structures and scenic views.

What’s on the ranch?

The property centers on a meticulously crafted western town, complete with storefronts, a saloon, and a sheriff’s office. A 12,000-square-foot main lodge anchors the site, while a 10,000-square-foot guest house offers space for visitors. The ranch also features a 1.5-mile horse trail, a fishing pond, and multiple barns for livestock.

Why this matters for Dale Earnhardt Jr

At 49, Earnhardt Jr. is building a life beyond the track. The ranch sits near his childhood home in Mooresville, a nod to his deep roots in the sport. Neighbors include fellow NASCAR stars, but the property’s scale and themed design set it apart. The western town alone cost seven figures to construct, according to local permits.

How the project took shape

Earnhardt Jr. bought the land in 2021 and broke ground in early 2023. The western town’s buildings were pre-fabricated off-site and assembled on location. The main lodge’s timber frame was raised in a single weekend, a feat that required 50 workers and a crane. The fishing pond was dug by hand to match the contours of the property’s natural creek.

What’s next for the property?

Earnhardt Jr. plans to host charity events at the ranch, starting with a July 2027 rodeo. He’s also exploring partnerships with equine therapy programs, leveraging the horse trails. The western town may eventually open for private tours, though no dates are set. For now, the focus remains on finishing the landscaping and stocking the pond with bass.
