Daria Kasatkina Prepares for Wedding After Wimbledon Run

2026-07-13 · Daria Kasatkina · Player Focus

Daria Kasatkina is trading her tennis racket for a wedding bouquet. Fresh from reaching the third round at Wimbledon 2026, the 29-year-old Australian star revealed her next major event: marrying long-time partner Natalia Zabiiako in Greece.

Kasatkina and Zabiiako, affectionately called “Pookie,” will tie the knot in an intimate seaside ceremony in Athens. The couple, who got engaged in Rome, plans to host around 40 guests, including tennis peers. “Next stop… our wedding with my Pookie! Can’t wait,” Kasatkina exclaimed in her vlog, filmed after her Wimbledon exit to Naomi Osaka on 6 July.

The wedding has been over a year in the making. Kasatkina described the planning process as a welcome break from tennis’s pressures. “I’m really looking forward to it,” she said during Wimbledon. “Something really, really different.”

Despite no prior grass-court wins in 2026, Kasatkina defeated Mingge Xu (6-2, 3-6, 6-2) and Janice Tjen (6-7(7), 6-1, 6-4) before losing to 14th seed Osaka. “It’s not easy getting into the Slam without winning any match on the surface prior,” she admitted. “I’m really happy about my effort.”

Kasatkina praised Wimbledon’s unique atmosphere, particularly the hush on Centre Court before play begins. “All you can hear is the sound of the ball and the shoes walking on the grass,” she said. “It’s so good.”

The wedding marks a rare personal spotlight for Kasatkina, typically reserved about her off-court life. Her vlog showed the couple extending their London stay post-Wimbledon, soaking in final pre-wedding moments. “We’ve been working on this for like a year,” she said, hoping guests would enjoy the celebration.

While her tennis schedule pauses, Kasatkina’s on-court focus remains sharp. The former world No. 8 hinted at continued dedication post-ceremony, though timelines remain unclear. For now, the spotlight shines on her dual role: elite athlete and bride-to-be.
