Davante Adams Sends Rams a Warning: 'Play Like the Best' in 2026

Davante Adams fired a warning shot at the Los Angeles Rams on July 10, telling teammates to ignore preseason hype and focus on dominating games instead.

Adams attended the American Century Classic golf outing and fielded questions about the Rams’ preseason hype. He shut down the idea that being favorites means anything. “Last thing I tell Puka Nacua, the rest of the receivers, we’re the best in the world, but it don’t matter,” Adams told reporters. “You’ve got to play like it. No matter how good you are, it’s about how good you play.”

The 34-year-old receiver is chasing his first Super Bowl ring after five straight Conference Championship losses. His contract expires after 2026, and this season may be his last shot to lead a contending team. Adams has never won a Conference Championship, including a 2025 exit with the Rams.

Adams raved about new teammates Myles Garrett, Trent McDuffie, and Jaylen Watson. McDuffie made first-team All-Pro in 2023 and is a two-time Super Bowl champion. Adams called him “the best corner in the league.” Watson and Garrett bolster a Rams defense that ranked 17th overall and 10th in scoring in 2025.

Adams joked about his golf game and family news during the interview. He also poked fun at Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. “You see, we got him?” Adams said of Garrett, before adding the defensive end will “help our defense even more.” The Rams added Garrett this offseason after he broke the NFL single-season sack record last year.
