David Warner Reacts to Rishabh Pant's DC Return with Laughing Emojis

2026-06-23 · David Warner · Player Focus

David Warner reacted to Rishabh Pant's return to Delhi Capitals with laughing emojis, saying it was always going to happen.

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal thanked Kuldeep Yadav and welcomed Rishabh Pant back to the team on social media.

Pant's return was part of a trade with Lucknow Super Giants, which sent Kuldeep Yadav in the opposite direction.

Rishabh Pant guided Lucknow to seventh and tenth-place finishes during his two seasons as captain.

A report claimed Pant felt undervalued by the franchise and was eager to move on.

Warner jumped into the comments with laughing emojis and suggested the trade was practically inevitable.

He wrote "It was always going to happen" and mentioned auctions can get out of hand.

Warner had two separate stints with Delhi Capitals from 2009 to 2013 and 2022 to 2024.

Pant's journey with Delhi began in 2016 and he took over the captaincy in 2021.

He opted out of retention ahead of the 2025 mega auction and was signed by Lucknow for a then-record fee of ₹27 crore.

Jindal hoped Pant would rediscover his best form playing in his home city again.

Warner's comment went viral on social media, with many fans reacting to his cheeky response.

The trade has been making headlines in the cricket world, with many speculating about the reasons behind Pant's move.

Pant's return to Delhi Capitals is seen as a major boost for the team, given his impressive record in the IPL.

Warner's reaction has added to the excitement, with fans eagerly waiting to see how the team will perform in the upcoming season.

The IPL has seen many player swaps in the past, but this trade is being seen as one of the most significant ones in recent times.
