Demetrious Johnson Inducted Into UFC Hall Of Fame

Demetrious Johnson was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on Saturday during Fight Night 271.

He will be part of the Modern Wing, dedicated to fighters who turned professional after November 17, 2000.

Johnson's induction was announced alongside his family during the event.

He reacted to the news, saying "Feels good. It's been a long time coming... It's about damn time".

Demetrious Johnson is the greatest flyweight of all-time, according to UFC President Dana White.

He had one of the most incredible careers in MMA, with a streak of 11 consecutive title defenses.

Johnson will be the 18th member of the Modern Wing, joining the fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk versus Weili Zhang at UFC 248 in 2020.

He inaugurated the UFC Flyweight Championship in 2012, reigning for 2142 days until 2018.

Johnson left UFC after being traded to ONE for Ben Askren in 2018.

He went on to win the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix and then the Flyweight Championship before retiring in 2024.

Dana White said Johnson's streak of 11 consecutive title defenses is one of the most remarkable records in professional sports.

Johnson's induction into the UFC Hall of Fame will be an honor, according to White.

Johnson became the first inductee into ONE's Hall of Fame.

He will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer, as part of the UFC Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

The announcement was made via X, with a statement reading "Taking his rightful place. Mighty Mouse becomes the newest athlete to join the UFC Hall of Fame".

Johnson's family was in attendance for the announcement during Fight Night 271.

The event was headlined by Israel Adesanya versus Joe Pyfer at middleweight.

Johnson's induction is a recognition of his record-breaking flyweight championship reign and his contributions to the sport of MMA.
