Demi Vollering skips Tour de Suisse to prepare for Tour de France Femmes
Demi Vollering will skip the Tour de Suisse Women to rest before the Tour de France Femmes, which starts on August 1.
The FDJ United-SUEZ team confirmed that Vollering will skip the Tour de Suisse to rest after winning the Giro d'Italia Women last week.
The team stated that they've jointly decided to introduce a recovery block to prepare her as well as possible for her upcoming goals.
Vollering had a short break before winning the Giro d'Italia, and her decision to skip the Tour de Suisse will allow her to focus on the Tour de France Femmes.
Other top riders, including Elise Chabbey, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, and Lotte Kopecky, will also skip the Tour de Suisse.
The Tour de Suisse Women will still feature several top contenders, including Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney, who will need to focus on gaining time on stronger time trialists.
The race will include a flat 23.7-kilometre individual time trial and a final day with over 3,000 metres of climbing, culminating on the summit at Villars-sur-Ollon.
Vollering won the Volta de la Comunitat Valenciana in February and had a successful Spring Classics campaign, with victories in Omloop Nieuwsblad, the Tour of Flanders, Flèche Wallonne, and Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
The Tour de France Femmes starts on August 1, and Vollering will be one of the top contenders for the title.
The FDJ United-SUEZ team will be looking to support Vollering in her preparation for the Tour de France Femmes, after her recent win in the Giro d'Italia Women.
Vollering's decision to skip the Tour de Suisse will give her the best chance to recover and prepare for the Tour de France Femmes, where she will face tough competition from other top riders.
The Tour de Suisse Women will be an important race for the other contenders, who will be looking to gain valuable experience and preparation for the Tour de France Femmes.
Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney will be one of the top contenders for the Tour de Suisse Women, after her recent second-place finishes in several races, including the Tour de France Femmes last year.
The Polish rider will need to focus on gaining time on stronger time trialists and use her climbing skills to her advantage in the final stage of the Tour de Suisse Women.
The race will be an exciting competition, with several top riders vying for the title, and Vollering's absence will give others a chance to shine.
The Tour de France Femmes will be a highly anticipated event, with Vollering and other top riders competing for the title, and the Tour de Suisse Women will be an important preparation race for many of the contenders.
