Devin Haney Faces Off Against Gervonta Davis in Potential Superfight

2026-06-23 · Devin Haney · Player Focus

Devin Haney is in the spotlight after Gervonta Davis called him out on social media for a potential superfight.

Gervonta "Tank" Davis posted a blunt challenge on his anonymous X account, which Haney quickly responded to, referencing Davis' alleged drug use.

Haney said he would beat the "pills and tusi" out of "Tank."

The exchange marks a significant shift, as Davis has been largely absent from the ring for nearly 16 months, dealing with legal troubles.

Haney, who holds a 33-0 (15 KOs) record, has been pursuing the matchup during his lightweight title run.

Haney instructed Davis to have Premier Boxing Champions founder Al Haymon call his team to discuss terms for a potential fight.

Davis responded with a display of wealth, posting a photo of wads of cash and a designer watch.

Haney then fired another shot at Davis, claiming that “Tank” and his team had responded behind the scenes.

The WBO has confirmed that Haney must face his mandatory challenger, Keyshawn Davis, or risk being stripped of his title.

And Haney's team has confirmed they will not be bullied into accepting a rehydration clause.

So the negotiations for a potential fight are complicated by Haney's title obligations and the weight difference between the two fighters.

But Davis is finally willing to entertain the matchup he has dodged for years.

The history between the two champions is deep, with Haney repeatedly pursuing the matchup during his lightweight title run.

Haney's last title defense was on **March 2025**, and he has been looking for a big fight since then.

Davis, however, has never fought above 140 pounds, making a welterweight fight unrealistic for him.

The back-and-forth signals that Davis is ready to return to the ring, but significant obstacles remain beyond just the weight and egos involved.
