Devin Haney names Floyd Mayweather, Ali and Robinson on his boxing Mount Rushmore

Devin Haney has named Floyd Mayweather, Sugar Ray Leonard, Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson as the four greatest fighters of all time in a fresh interview, while the reigning WBO welterweight champion also confirmed he’s closing in on his next title defense.

Haney, who dominated Brian Norman Jr to claim the WBO welterweight belt on 23 November 2025, still hasn’t stepped into the ring in 2026. But with purse bids looming for his mandatory clash against Keyshawn Davis, the Californian is edging closer to his next outing.

What did Haney say?

Haney spoke to Inside The Ring and laid out his personal Mount Rushmore of boxing legends. He opened with Floyd Mayweather, praising the former four-division king for changing the sport with his defensive mastery and star power.

“My Mount Rushmore of fighters are Floyd [Mayweather] because he changed the game, his defence, he just brought a whole different vibe to the sport of boxing,” Haney said.

Next came Sugar Ray Leonard, whose blend of offense and defense earned high praise from Haney. “[Leonard] was just a killer in the ring, he had the offence and the defence, his defence was his offence,” Haney added.

The list then moved to Muhammad Ali, whom Haney called “The Greatest” for his cultural impact and ring dominance. Finally, Haney picked Sugar Ray Robinson, citing his era-defining resume and relentless style.

Haney’s comments come as he eyes bigger challenges after beating Norman Jr in Las Vegas last November. The WBO has already ordered his mandatory defense against Keyshawn Davis, with purse bids set for 20 July if no deal is struck.

Behind the scenes, Haney’s team is weighing options beyond Davis. Rumors persist of a rematch with Ryan Garcia, while Conor Benn and Shakur Stevenson also loom as potential 2027 showdowns.
