Federica Pellegrini Welcomes Second Child

Federica Pellegrini and her husband Matteo Giunta welcomed their second child, a daughter named Rachele, on April 1.

The Italian swimming legend announced the birth of her second daughter via Instagram.

Federica Pellegrini, 37, retired from active swimming in 2021 and married her personal coach Matteo Giunta on August 27, 2022.

Pellegrini is widely regarded as Italy's greatest swimmer of all-time, with a 16-year career that earned her 26 international gold medals.

She won Olympic gold in the 200 freestyle at the 2008 Games, making her the first Italian woman to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming.

Federica Pellegrini finished on the podium in the 200 freestyle at 7-consecutive World Championships from 2005 to 2019.

Matteo Giunta has been involved with the sport since 2008 and has coached several notable athletes, including Milorad Cavic and Nicolo Martinenghi.

Giunta is currently coaching at the Federal High Specialization Centre “Alberto Castagnetti” in Verona.

Federica Pellegrini set 11 World Records in her career, including breaking the 4-minute barrier in the 400 freestyle at the 2009 World Championships.

The couple's first daughter, Matilde, was born on January 3, 2024.

Federica Pellegrini's husband Matteo Giunta was her personal coach from 2014 until her retirement in 2021.

Pellegrini won 37 European Championship medals and 19 World Championship medals in total.

Rachele arrived just over two years after her older sister Matilde.

Federica Pellegrini became engaged to Matteo Giunta in 2021, the same year she retired from swimming.
