Franco Morbidelli Recovers to Finish Fourth in MotoGP British GP

2026-06-25 · Franco Morbidelli · Match Report

Franco Morbidelli finished fourth in the MotoGP British GP on a dramatic day. He crashed on the opening lap after being knocked down by Aleix Espargaro’s bike.

The Italian rider managed to take the restart after fewer than three racing laps had run and went on to brand his recovery ride to fourth as “amazing.”

Morbidelli recovered to finish fourth in the British Grand Prix, just 0.017 seconds behind Marc Marquez. He battled closely with the Spaniard on the last lap for the final podium spot.

The Italian added that he “tried everything” in his battle with Marquez for the final podium position. Morbidelli’s race almost came to an early end when he collided with the bike of Spanish racer Espargaro.

Espargaro suffered a “nasty crash” in the opening lap of the British Grand Prix, which almost took out Morbidelli as well.

Morbidelli said: “It was an amazing race. It was an amazing, an incredible weekend.” He felt that he could have done something better but was happy with the result.

The Italian rider was in pain after the crash but took the positives from the day, which was the amazing performance he had.

Morbidelli’s team-mate Fabio Di Giannantonio also had a promising weekend, finishing third in Saturday’s sprint race. He finished tenth in the GP but was later promoted to ninth following post-race penalties.

Morbidelli will look to build on this strong performance in the next race, with his sights set on a podium finish.
