Frank Lampard wants Coventry City to wrap up a deal for Fikayo Tomori before his contract expires in June 2027. Milan have now signaled they’re ready to sell the England international after deciding he’s not in their plans for next season.

Keith Wyness, the former Aston Villa chief executive, told Football Insider exclusively that Lampard is working behind the scenes to get the deal done. Wyness believes Tomori could be a key piece for Coventry if they’re to survive in the Premier League next term.

Tomori has Champions League experience and has been linked with Newcastle United in recent days. But Wyness thinks Lampard’s push could sway the defender toward Coventry instead. The 28-year-old made 33 Serie A appearances last season and has Premier League pedigree from his time at Chelsea.

Wyness stressed that Coventry need “talismen” to stay up. He called Tomori a solid option-not a world-beater-but one who could step into a leadership role at the CBS Arena.

Coventry are also set to return with a fresh £20m bid for Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth. Mick Brown, a former Coventry assistant manager, said the club remains determined to land their top target after his impressive loan spell last season.

Brown questioned where else Lampard could find a better goalkeeper in today’s market. Rushworth’s Brighton knocked back Coventry’s opening offer, but the Sky Blues are ready to come back stronger.
