Frank Ribery Admits Prostitution Scandal Hurt Family

2026-06-24 · Frank Ribery · Player Focus

Frank Ribery, the Bayern Munich midfielder, has revealed the hurt caused to his family by the prostitution scandal. On Saturday night, after his club's 3-1 win over Bochum, Ribery told French television TF1's Telefoot programme: 'It hurt my family, above all those close to me.'

The scandal broke last month, with Ribery and his France team-mate Sidney Govou called as witnesses in a human trafficking case.

Ribery admitted having relations with the prostitute, Zahia Dehar, but claimed he did not know she was underage.

The 27-year-old football star could face a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros if charged and found guilty.

In France, a person under 18 is considered a minor, and sex with a prostitute under 18 carries a jail term of up to three years and a fine of 45,000 euros.

It is now up to the judge presiding over the case to decide whether or not to bring charges against Ribery.

Ribery is married with two children, and the scandal has engulfed him and the French team.

The case has sparked a media storm, with Ribery's family at the centre of the controversy.

The French football star's future hangs in the balance, as he awaits the judge's decision.

Ribery's club, Bayern Munich, has not commented on the scandal, but the player's admission has sparked widespread debate.

The scandal has raised questions about the responsibility of football stars and the potential consequences of their actions.

Ribery's case will be closely watched, as the football world awaits the outcome of the judge's decision.
