Frankie Dettori Hospitalized After Car Crash

Frankie Dettori was rushed to the hospital after a serious car accident in Newmarket on Wednesday, July 1.

The accident occurred when another vehicle struck the rear passenger side of Dettori's car, causing it to spin out of control and flip over.

Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and the 55-year-old was taken straight to the nearby hospital.

Doctors have confirmed that Dettori sustained a few broken ribs and a broken thumb.

He remains hospitalized under close observation while medical staff run further scans to fully assess his injuries.

This is not the first time Dettori has been involved in a serious accident at Newmarket.

In 2000, he survived a plane crash that killed the pilot, Patrick Mackey.

Dettori suffered a broken right ankle, facial cuts, and other injuries in the crash.

Dettori was scheduled to participate in the charity Legends race at Doncaster's St Leger meeting in September.

However, his recovery takes absolute priority, and it is unclear if he will be able to participate in the race.

Frankie Dettori's management team has asked for his privacy to be respected during this time.

The recent accident has raised concerns about Dettori's health and well-being, especially given his age and recent retirement from professional racing.

Dettori had been enjoying his retirement after a high-profile farewell tour through America and Brazil.

His final race in Britain was a spectacular victory aboard King Of Steel in the Champion Stakes at Ascot three years ago.
