Frankie Dettori Suffers Injuries in Car Accident

Frankie Dettori was involved in a serious car accident near Newmarket on Wednesday evening, resulting in multiple injuries.

The 55-year-old sustained several broken ribs and a fractured thumb after another vehicle struck the rear passenger side of his car.

The accident caused his car to spin before overturning, according to a statement released by his management.

Dettori was transported to hospital, where he continues to undergo scans and observation while doctors fully assess the extent of his injuries.

In a message shared on social media, Frankie Dettori thanked emergency services and medical staff for their treatment following the crash.

Dettori said he was “very sore” and planned to focus on rest and recovery over the coming weeks.

Earlier this year, Frankie Dettori brought the curtain down on one of racing’s most celebrated careers, retiring with more than 3,300 winners.

The accident has placed his planned appearance in the Leger Legends charity race at Doncaster in September in doubt, with no indication yet as to when he may be fit enough to return.

No timeframe has been provided for Dettori’s recovery as he continues to receive treatment in hospital.
