Galen Rupp Wins US Olympic Men's Marathon Trials
Galen Rupp won the US Olympic Men's Marathon Trials in February with a time of 2:09:20.
He qualified for his fourth consecutive Olympic Games.
Rupp's journey to Tokyo was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, delaying the Summer Games until 2021.
The Oregonian attended Central Catholic High School where he won back to back cross country titles.
Rupp is among those featured in NBC Sports Northwest's campaign to honor local Olympians and Paralympians.
He earned 14 All-American honors and five individual championships at the University of Oregon.
Rupp is excited about the opportunity to go to Tokyo, having only been on the outskirts of the city before.
And he's looking forward to seeing what Japan and Tokyo has to offer.
The multiplatform campaign will highlight local athletes through profiles and vignettes.
Rupp won by 42 seconds in the Atlanta qualifier.
He's still excited about the opportunity to compete in the Tokyo Olympics.
The campaign began on Father's Day and runs through Saturday, July 4.
Galen Rupp is a two-time Olympic medalist.
The campaign is presented by Northwest Toyota dealers.
Rupp attended the University of Oregon where he had a successful track and field career.
