Glenn Maxwell has invested in the Irish Wolves, a T20 franchise based in Belfast, as part of the new European T20 Premier League.

The European T20 Premier League will feature six teams, including the Amsterdam Flames, owned by Steve Waugh, and the Irish Wolves, owned by Glenn Maxwell.

The league is set to start on August 26 and will include teams from Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam.

Glenn Maxwell's investment in the Irish Wolves is a significant move, as he aims to develop cricket in Europe and bring global superstars to the league.

Maxwell said his team would combine "fun" and playing with "no fear", reflecting his own approach to the game.

The Irish Wolves will compete against other teams in the league, including the Amsterdam Flames, which has already signed Australian stars Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith.

The league's co-founder, Abhishek Bachchan, said the European market is ready for a T20 professional league, and the ETPL will accelerate the growth of cricket in Europe.

Glenn Maxwell's team will play in the inaugural season of the ETPL, starting on August 26.

The Dutch captain Scott Edwards has also been signed by the Amsterdam Flames.
