Grant Holloway Wins Silver in 110-Meter Hurdles

Grant Holloway won the silver medal in the 110-meter hurdles at the Tokyo Olympics with a time of 13.09.

He was edged by Jamaica's Hansle Parchment, who finished .05 seconds ahead.

Grant Holloway entered the Olympics ranked No. 1 in the world and as a clear-cut favorite in Japan.

He defeated Parchment in the semifinals with a time of 13.02 seconds.

But in the final, Holloway was not at his best, finishing .28 seconds off his personal best.

Holloway had won the U.S. Olympic Trials with a staggering time of 12.81 seconds.

He was expected to challenge the world record again, but fell short.

Grant Holloway should be in the mix again during the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.

He won eight individual national titles during three seasons with the Florida Gators.

In June 2019, he won the national title in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 12.98 seconds.

This broke Renaldo Nehemiah's 40-year-old collegiate record.

After turning professional, Holloway won the 110-meter hurdles at the IAAF World Championships in October 2019.

He became the first American 110 hurdler to win a global championship since David Oliver in 2013.

Holloway hoped to become the third UF athlete to bring home a gold medal from Tokyo.

He was following in the footsteps of swimmers Caleb Dressel and Bobby Finke.

Dressel and Finke combined for seven gold medals, with five of them won by Dressel.

Grant Holloway's silver medal was a stunning end to his quest for a gold medal.

He will look to bounce back at the 2024 Summer Games.
