Hardik Pandya linked with CSK amid IPL exit buzz after MI flop

Hardik Pandya is back in the IPL transfer crosshairs after another underwhelming season with Mumbai Indians, with Chennai Super Kings now the latest franchise rumoured to be chasing the India all-rounder.

On 13 July 2026, social media erupted when Pandya changed his Instagram bio to “Athlete” with a crown emoji, fuelling speculation he could be heading to the CSK camp.

What happened?

Pandya’s bio update came just days after Mumbai Indians finished a disappointing campaign, leaving the franchise’s future with the star all-rounder in doubt.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan moved quickly to quash the rumours, telling reporters the franchise has not spoken to Pandya or any of his representatives about a move.

Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders have also been mentioned as potential suitors, with multiple franchises circling the India vice-captain after his worst MI season yet.

Why the speculation?

The “King” reference in Pandya’s bio was enough for fans to read tea leaves, even though no official talks have taken place.

CSK added fuel to the fire by posting a collage of Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dewald Brevis and Noor Ahmad with the caption “The Yellove core”, leaving followers guessing if another blockbuster signing could be on the cards.

Viswanathan shut down the chatter in a clear statement, saying CSK has not initiated any contact with Pandya or his team.

What comes next?

For now, the Hardik-to-CSK story remains fan-driven, with no concrete evidence of negotiations.

If a move materialises, it would rank among the biggest IPL transfers in recent years, given Pandya’s profile as one of India’s marquee all-rounders.

The Mumbai Indians brass must now decide whether to retain Pandya or explore options, with the IPL auction window still months away.

Pandya’s next move will shape not just his career but the balance of power in the IPL for seasons to come.
