Hollie Doyle Wins at Carlisle, Completes UK Clean Sweep
Hollie Doyle secured her first win at Carlisle, riding Mostawaa to a half-length victory in the Carlisle Bell Handicap.
The seven-year-old Mostawaa, trained by Heather Main, won the 424-year-old Stablemate By Agma Carlisle Bell Handicap, a mile contest run for the oldest sporting trophy in the world.
Hollie Doyle was delighted with the win, saying Mostawaa had turned a corner in his old age.
This victory completes a unique feat for Doyle, who has now ridden a winner at every single Flat track in the UK.
Doyle revealed her delight at making the 290-mile journey from her home in Hungerford a winning one.
Doyle thinks they can investigate going up to 10 furlongs now, after Mostawaa stuck to it well on soft ground.
The £16,000 consolation race was won by Clear Angel, trained by Susan Corbett, who completed a double under Graham Lee.
Corbett is hopeful that things may have finally clicked into place for Clear Angel, who has proven to be a slow burner since being bought for 1,500 guineas in February 2021.
Doyle got a very easy lead at York, but things were different at Carlisle, with plenty of pace on paper.
The win was a lovely moment for Corbett, who has waited a while for Clear Angel to deliver.
Clear Angel could still be upwardly mobile, and Corbett will look to keep him on a flat and galloping track in future.
