Iga Świątek drops to No. 7 in all-time WTA rankings as Sabalenka closes gap

2026-07-14 · Iga Świątek · Player Focus

Iga Świątek has slid to seventh on the WTA’s all-time leaderboard after Aryna Sabalenka cut the gap to just one week at the summit.

On 14 July 2026, the latest WTA rankings update confirmed Sabalenka closing to 99 weeks at No. 1-one shy of Świątek’s 125-week total. The Belarusian began her 99th week on Monday, leapfrogging Lindsay Davenport’s 98-week reign to enter the all-time Top 10. Świątek’s 125 weeks came across two spells: April 2022-September 2023 and November 2023-October 2024.

Świątek’s 125 weeks still rank seventh all-time, but Sabalenka is now breathing down her neck. The Pole’s total edges out Justine Henin (117 weeks) and Ashleigh Barty (121 weeks), yet trails sixth-placed Barty by six weeks. Świątek’s reign ended last autumn when Sabalenka reclaimed No. 1 in October 2024.

Sabalenka must watch her back. Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina has slashed the distance to the Belarusian after Rybakina’s strong early-season results. The gap between Sabalenka and Rybakina tightened after the Kazakh’s deep runs in the year’s Grand Slams. With Sabalenka’s 2026 Slam form flat so far, Rybakina’s consistency could soon force another reshuffle at the summit.

The all-time list remains dominated by legends. Steffi Graf leads with 377 weeks, followed by Martina Navratilova (332) and Serena Williams (319). Świątek’s 125 weeks sit behind Barty’s 121 and ahead of Henin’s 117, marking her place among the sport’s most elite one-week rulers.
