Ja'Marr Chase named NFL’s top WR in execs, coaches poll

Ja’Marr Chase has been named the NFL’s top wide receiver in a new poll of league executives, coaches and personnel, cementing his status as the league’s most feared pass-catcher.

What happened?

On 18 June, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler released a positional ranking based on votes from NFL decision-makers. Chase finished first among wide receivers, with multiple coaches and executives calling him the best they’ve faced.

One head coach told Fowler: “He’s the best I’ve gone against. He can break it for 80 [yards] at any time.” Another coach added: “He showed over the past two years he can play inside and outside. [The Bengals] moved him around more, and he’s gotten better as the ultimate chess piece.”

Why it matters for Ja’Marr Chase

The poll reflects a growing consensus that Chase is the league’s most complete receiver. His ability to dominate from multiple alignments sets him apart from peers who specialize on one side.

Chase’s rise mirrors the Bengals’ shift to a more versatile offense. The team has used him as a boundary threat, slot option and deep threat, making him harder to scheme against.

Tee Higgins, Chase’s teammate, also received votes but finished outside the top five. Still, Higgins placed in the “also receiving votes” tier, reinforcing Cincinnati’s wide receiver depth.

What comes next?

Chase turns 26 in March 2027. With two more seasons on his rookie deal, he remains under contract through 2026. The Bengals have no plans to move him, and his poll standing suggests he’ll stay near the top for years.

The next test comes in Week 1 of the 2026 season. Chase and the Bengals open against the Ravens in a prime-time matchup on 13 September.
