Jannik Sinner’s Turin ATP Finals title fuels push for 2027 extension

Jannik Sinner’s 2025 ATP Finals victory in Turin has given the season-ending championship a major boost, helping secure a one-year extension to its hosting agreement through at least 2027.

What happened?

The ATP and the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) confirmed the extension on Thursday, keeping the ATP Finals in Turin for a seventh straight year. The move follows the tournament’s record-breaking 2025 edition, which drew 229,879 spectators and drew seven million Italian TV viewers for the final.

Sinner pocketed $5.07 million for winning the title without dropping a set, the largest champion’s payout in ATP Finals history. The event also set new records for social media views and prize money, reaching $15.5 million.

Why it matters for Jannik Sinner

The extension strengthens Turin’s grip on the ATP Finals through 2030 under the broader deal with sponsor Nitto. Sinner’s rise has paralleled the tournament’s growth in Italy, where he’s the home favorite after lifting the trophy in front of packed crowds.

His 2025 win capped a dominant run in Turin, where the Inalpi Arena has become a fortress for Italian tennis. The ATP Finals moved from London to Turin in 2021 and has since become one of the ATP Tour’s marquee stops.

What comes next?

The 2026 edition will feature upgrades, including a 13,500-seat capacity at the Inalpi Arena and a new open-view practice court inside the Fan Village. Additional courtside hospitality areas are also planned.

Sinner and Alexander Zverev have already locked down two of the eight spots for Turin. Carlos Alcaraz, the world No. 3, is in strong position after winning the Australian Open. The race for the final six spots remains wide open, with Flavio Cobolli, Daniil Medvedev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur currently holding provisional spots.

The North American hard-court swing, Asian tournaments and Paris Masters will decide the last two qualifiers before November’s season finale.
