Jorge Martín Prepares for 1,000km Road Bike Challenge After MotoGP Break

2026-07-20 · Jorge Martín · Player Focus

Jorge Martín, the current MotoGP World Championship leader, is swapping relaxation for a grueling 1,000km road bike challenge. The Aprilia rider spent his break enjoying fine wines and gourmet food in Spain’s Rioja region before embarking on his ambitious cycling project.

What happened during Jorge Martín’s break?

Martin enjoyed a luxury getaway at the Marqués de Murrieta vineyard, known for its €275-a-bottle Castillo Ygay. He also dined at Asador Etxebarri, Europe’s best restaurant of 2025. Despite the indulgence, training remained a priority.

Why is Jorge Martín taking on this challenge?

The 28-year-old is no stranger to endurance. During the recent MotoGP break, he tackled a demanding cycling route. Now, with his '89Squad', he’ll cover 1,000km in seven days, starting July 20. The event, 'Jorge Martin on Tour', is sponsored by his partner Muc-Off.

What’s next for Jorge Martín in MotoGP?

Martin leads the championship with 208 points, ahead of Ai Ogura and Marc Márquez. The season resumes at Silverstone on August 7-9. His road bike challenge serves as both training and a mental reset before the next race.
