Jude Bellingham injury fears after England star grabs shoulder vs Norway

2026-07-12 · Jude Bellingham · Club News

Jude Bellingham sparked injury fears after grabbing his shoulder twice during and after England's 2-1 World Cup quarter-final win over Norway on Saturday. The 23-year-old Real Madrid midfielder scored both goals for the Three Lions, but Spanish outlet Diario AS captured him clutching at his shoulder blade after the match.

Bellingham missed Real Madrid's first four La Liga games of the 2025/26 season after undergoing a procedure on his shoulder last summer. The issue may still be bothering him.

During a hydration break in the match, an image showed Bellingham putting pressure on his shoulder while talking to England manager Thomas Tuchel. After the final whistle, he was seen stretching before speaking to reporters in the mixed zone.

Diario AS kept recording as Bellingham approached the microphones. He later grabbed at his shoulder blade. The midfielder has shown no signs of the injury slowing him down at the World Cup so far.

Bellingham was the star of the show. His stunning brace took him to six goals for the tournament. He led England to a 2-1 victory over a Norway side featuring Erling Haaland, Martin Odegaard, Antonio Nusa, and Alexander Sorloth.

But his performance was overshadowed by a spiky exchange with Tuchel. The manager called England's display "sloppy, lucky" and not good enough "in every sense." Bellingham fired back when told of the comments.

"Yeah, well. Whatever, whatever," Bellingham said. "It's difficult out there. It's a tough shift. All the players are putting in a very tough shift. My thoughts and appreciation goes to the players who were out there and put in a great shift yet again."

He added: "Maybe he doesn't know what it is like to play in those kind of conditions against Erling Haaland, Martin Odegaard, Antonio Nusa and Alexander Sorloth. That's not an easy team to play against."

Bellingham is at his best when playing on the edge. The incident is unlikely to cause a rift between him and Tuchel.

England face Argentina in the semi-final after their extra-time win over Switzerland. Argentina are confirmed as the opponents in the final four.

For the Three Lions to reach the World Cup final, Bellingham will almost certainly need to be at his best. His shoulder will be a concern for fans and staff alike. But so far, nothing has stopped him.
