Herbert endured a career-high 54 sacks and 263 pressures in 2025, playing the final month with a fractured left hand. Los Angeles cycled through 10 different starting offensive line combinations, yet Herbert still compiled 3,727 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 498 rushing yards.

An NFL personnel exec praised Herbert's enduring appeal: "If you're picking quarterbacks to build around, you're still taking him pretty high." His ability to produce under pressure-leading the league with 10 touchdown passes from outside the pocket-bolstered his case.

New Chargers OC Mike McDaniel's arrival has generated buzz league-wide. "The Chargers OC job was the best available because of the quarterback," noted an NFC scout. Herbert described initial meetings with McDaniel as "awesome," hinting at a strong working relationship.
