Justin Jefferson Eyes Trade as Raiders Emerge as Top Suitors

2026-06-28 · Justin Jefferson · Transfer

Justin Jefferson's satisfaction with the Minnesota Vikings' quarterback situation is a major concern, with the team preparing to move forward with a QB competition between J.J. McCarthy and Kyler Murray.

The Vikings' quarterback plan may not provide the long-term stability Jefferson needs, potentially creating tension and leading him to seek a trade.

Garrett Podell, of CBS Sports, believes the Las Vegas Raiders would be a likely destination for Jefferson, given their willingness to trade for elite wide receivers, as seen in the 2022 trade for Davante Adams.

The Raiders' young franchise quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, needs a true WR1 to complement All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers, making Jefferson an attractive addition.

The potential price for a trade would be a first- and third-round pick, according to Podell, but Jefferson would need to want out of Minnesota, and the Vikings would have to be willing to listen to trade offers.

Jefferson is heading into the final year of his four-year, $140 million deal in 2028, and a new contract would be necessary.

The Raiders have shown they are not afraid to make blockbuster trades for elite wideouts, and if Mendoza develops into a franchise quarterback, the organization may view a Jefferson trade as the quickest path to championship contention.

And with the Vikings' quarterback situation uncertain, the Raiders could be among the first teams to make a serious offer for Jefferson's services.

The Raiders' willingness to trade for Adams in 2022 demonstrates their commitment to building a strong offensive core, and adding Jefferson would create more opportunities for Bowers and the rest of the team's offensive weapons.

But for now, a trade is just a possibility, and the Raiders will have to wait and see how the situation unfolds in Minnesota.
