Kyle Busch honored with tributes at EchoPark Speedway NASCAR weekend
Kyle Busch will be honored at EchoPark Speedway this weekend with a series of tributes during NASCAR’s return to metro Atlanta. The late Cup Series champion died in May after complications from pneumonia at age 41, and the speedway is marking his legacy with multiple fan-facing memorials.
EchoPark Speedway will feature a main entrance marquee message dedicated to Busch, plus a fan tribute zone where supporters can sign and leave messages. The speedway will also paint a logo tribute on the ballfield grass and fly a KB-themed parachute flag during Sunday’s pre-race ceremonies. A video highlighting Busch’s career highlights at EchoPark will play during the parachute jumpers’ display.
NASCAR also confirmed an empty chair will sit in the driver’s meeting ahead of Sunday night’s race. Busch won 14 Truck and Cup Series races at the track, including Atlanta’s last Truck Series event in February.
Busch’s connection to EchoPark Speedway ran deep. He called the track home for multiple victories across both the Truck and Cup Series, cementing his status as one of the venue’s most successful drivers. Fans who flocked to the speedway this year still remember his final Truck Series win there in February, just months before his passing.
The tributes reflect Busch’s impact beyond just wins. He was a fan favorite, known for his aggressive style and unfiltered personality. EchoPark’s decision to honor him publicly underscores how his presence shaped the track’s recent history.
NASCAR announced a public celebration of life for Busch on Oct. 9 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The event will be open to fans, with additional details to be shared closer to the date. Busch’s family has asked for privacy ahead of the service, but the trackside memorials this weekend offer an early chance for fans to reflect.
EchoPark Speedway’s tribute weekend runs July 18-19, marking the second time NASCAR visits the track this year. Busch’s legacy will loom large over both days, from the empty chair in the drivers’ meeting to the KB-branded parachute flag soaring above Turn 4.
