How Patrick Mahomes’ deal reshaped the QB market

Jackson’s contract talks gained urgency after Patrick Mahomes signed an eight-year, $504.75 million extension with the Kansas City Chiefs on 18 June. The deal averages just over $63 million per season and can reach $522.25 million with incentives. The Chiefs restructured Mahomes’ contract earlier this year to free up cap room, a move Baltimore mirrored with Jackson. The Ravens converted most of Jackson’s 2026 base salary into a signing bonus, creating nearly $40 million in cap space.

Jackson’s stance on negotiations remains quiet

Jackson has kept negotiations private throughout his career, choosing to represent himself. In May, he told reporters he’s no longer pursuing a fully guaranteed contract.
