Lando Norris Requests Replicating Schumacher's Win
Lando Norris wanted to win the British Grand Prix by driving through the pit lane as the race ended behind the safety car on Sunday.
Norris finished fourth and asked over team radio if he could win by diving into the pits on the final lap.
His race engineer Will Joseph responded that drivers are not allowed to win a race by crossing the finish line through the pit lane, a rule changed after Michael Schumacher's 1998 British Grand Prix win.
Lando Norris benefitted from late issues for Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen to move up the order.
Norris said considering how difficult the race was, finishing fourth was quite remarkable, and the team needs to improve the car's pace.
