Lester Piggott Memorabilia Auctioned Off

Lester Piggott's memorabilia is being auctioned off, with his collection valued between £58,000-£79,000.

The auction features items from Piggott's life and career, including the 1990 Breeders Cup Trophy.

The collection includes press clipping albums compiled by Piggott from his first race, won at 12 years old.

These albums are a memoir of arguably one of the best flat-racing jockeys of all time.

The auction is a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of history, with Piggott's collection being a significant part of the sale.

Graham Budd, Chairman of Graham Budd Auctions, commented on the honor of featuring Piggott's memorabilia.

The Graham Budd horse racing special auction in partnership with Weatherbys is due to take place on 16th October.

The sale is estimated to fetch over £360,000, with other significant pieces of horse racing memorabilia included.

The auction features items from other notable jockeys, including Pat Eddery and Fred Archer.

Eddery's most significant victories include the 1986 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe with Dancing Brave.

Archer set a number of records that remained well into the 20th century, including 13 titles as Champion Jockey.

The calibre of memorabilia is showcased by the lots above, including Tim Hamey's 1932 saddle from his Grand National win.

The racing plate worn by Golden Miller when winning the 1934 Grand National is also up for auction.

Ryan Moore's first winning silks are estimated to fetch between £1,500-£2,000.

H.M. Queen Elizabeth II's colours worn by Joe Mercer on Highclere when winning the Prix de Diane in 1974 are valued between £6,000-£8,000.

A bronze maquette of the life-size sculpture of the Queen Mother's 'Special Cargo' is estimated to fetch between £3,000-£4,000.

The auction is a unique chance to own a piece of horse racing history, with **Lester Piggott**'s memorabilia being a highlight of the sale.

The sale will take place at Newmarket's National Horse Racing Museum, with more information available on the Graham Budd Auctions website.
