Lewis Hamilton Gains Advantage at Ferrari Film Day

2026-07-10 · Lewis Hamilton · Player Focus

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc took to the Madrid circuit for a filming day, giving Ferrari a head start ahead of the Grand Prix debut in September.

The data collected will help refine their simulator models.

Ferrari chose the Madring as the venue for its second film day, with Leclerc and Hamilton completing laps in this year's Ferrari SF-26.

They used special demonstration tyres provided by Pirelli and were limited to just a few laps due to World Championship rules.

The filming day was beneficial for both Ferrari and the circuit operators, who were able to test the facility during a Formula 1 event.

The Scuderia from Maranello had already used up their first filming day in April, when Leclerc and Hamilton took to the Monza circuit.

The Grand Prix debut at the Madrid circuit is set to take place in September, and the data collected by Leclerc and Hamilton will be valuable in preparing for the event.

The Madrid circuit, surrounding the IFEMA exhibition centre, is 5.416 km long, and Leclerc was the first to take to the track in a Formula 1 car.

Carlos Sainz, the current Williams driver, had already driven on the circuit in a Ford Mustang back in May.

Ferrari's decision to choose the Madring for their film day was a clever move, as it allowed them to gain an advantage while also helping the circuit operators test their facility.

The filming day was subject to strict rules, with teams only permitted to cover 200 km on each of the two authorised filming days.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc's participation in the filming day will give them an edge ahead of the Grand Prix debut in September.

The event will be a significant one for Ferrari, and the data collected during the filming day will be crucial in their preparations.
